Alliance-Union

The Battle of Pell was one of the largest and latest battles during the Company War.

History[]

After Earth Company created the Company Fleet to attempt to impose their dominance at all human colonies, a fifty years long war began. The newly born Union was too much powerful, and the Company's defeat was inevitable. By 2533, barely ten Carriers of Mazianni ships survived of ten. After Union's capture of Viking Station, only one remained independent, Pell Station, and friendly to the Company. Conrad Mazian gathered all his fleet and launched a counter attack at Viking, but after losing a Carrier, the Libya, knew than the Company had signed an armistice with Union; they've been betrayed, so he ordered the full retreat to Pell.

The Siege[]

The Mazianni took forcible the control of Pell Station, using its resuources to resupply and repair their ships. Soon, the Union fleet arrived, forcing them to detach the station and engage them on the fringes of the system. The Union Fleet, with at least fourteen Carriers, losed at least four, including the Victory and Endurance. The Mazianni Tibet became the focus of the Union's attacks, but the Carrier made a suicide jump in the middle of Union's ships, obliterating another Crarier and minor ships along with himself and his own riderships. Soon after, the North Pole was destroyed too, but the U/nion forces retreated.

A massive riot had began at Pell Station, and the last Mazianni Carriers retreated there, retaking the station with their troops, but the morale was seriously affected: In the last 40 years of war, they have never losed so many vessels in a so much short time.

Mazian shared his plans with the rest of the captains: to destroy the station, to deny Union their use, and retreat to Earth, using their resources to continue the war from there. But captain Signy Mallory, of the Carrier Norway, didn't accepted it, so she broke with Mazian, leaving the station nad defecting, along with her riderships. The return of the Union Fleet and the creation of the Alliance, a joint pact of all merchanter ships, forced Mazian to leave the station intact and flee.

Aftermath[]

Mazianni's plans were frustrated when Union's fleet, warned by Mallory, arrived at Earth before them, forcing them to retreat. When Alliance vessels arrived to Sol system, both Alliance and Union invitated Earth to join them. Finally, after long negotiations, a three sides deal was make, and Earth remained independent, like the newly born Alliance.

Technically, the Company Wars have ended, but the Maziannis didn't accepted it and, hidden in a unknown place, continued launching supply runs against Alliance's most vulnerable systems, but without much success: they losed the Australia and India Carriers under the Norway's guns.
